This is my story this is my song
Beloved in Christ,
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I will briefly share why this song book?.
For a long time I have been wanting to worship the Lord at home, during personal prayer time and during family prayer.
But I have always found that the choice of a song proved to be a disaster because there were so many song books,
one or 2 copies, each giving a different song. Therefore, it was difficult, going thro' many a books to find a song.
Also there was a problem of limited copies.

But over the period of time, I had collected many such song books. Even the books which I had purchased during my college
days - 1972 - at TTC, Arasaradi is still available with me. So I thought of putting everything in one place. I started writing
the songs in a diary. But then that would serve the purpose of personal worship. When it comes to family worship, again I drew a blank.

Another main reason for this book is that we have forgotten and buried all our old and golden collection of hymns & lyrics
- in Tamil - பாமாலை & கீர்த்தனைகள். We normally think that these are old-fashioned songs and obsolete. Even the only
hymnbook that I had has become brittle and was coming off in pieces. But can any one forget such golden hits as
எல்லாம் இயேசுவே, ஆத்துமமே, தேவ பிதா, தேன் இனிமையிலும், சீர் இயேசு நாதனுக்கு, சருவலோகாதிபா,
யூத ராஜசிங்கம், ... .. in lyrics.

Also, there are many unsung but unforgettable songs like உன்னதமானவரின், மகிழ்வோம், சந்தோஷம் பொங்குதே, பலிபீடத்தில் என்னை,
தேவ கிருபைமென்றும் உள்ளது, என்னை மறவா, எந்த காலத்திலும், அனாதி தேவன்,
எனக்காய் ஜீவன் விட்டவரே, திருக்கரத்தால், திருப்பாதம் நம்பி, துதித்துப் பாடிட, இயேசுவின் நாமமே, உம் பாதம் பணிந்தேன், --
I'm afraid I may be listing the entire contents here.

Coming to Hymns, I was searching for the difference between a Hymn and other songs. Ah, I found it at last. A hymn is a song that is
sung with 'GOD as the primary audience'. It is not sung to please, appease men as the primary audience. That is the primary reason
why we can feel the presence of God when Hymns are sung even after many centuries, of its writing. In hymns, there is no comparison
for Christ the Lord is risen today, All glory laud and honour, Rock of ages, what a friend we have in Jesus, Nearer my God to Thee,
Amazing grace, Great is thy faithfulness to list a few. That is why I call these songs 'Resurrection Songs' for they are truly resurrected.
I have also tried to give a short commentary on the circumstance leading to the writing of the Hymn, wherever possible(source:internet)

Special mention to be made about choruses & other songs. I have collected these from various sources, even from the cassettes. Some songs,
I have played the cassettes and written them.

Coming to the Christmas songs - O what a joy to write and sing songs like O come all ye faithful, Joy to the world, Hark the herald, and the greatest
of all Christmas songs - Silent night. Silent Night has been sung for centuries, but it is incomparable. There may be thousand songs on Christmas.
But this is a unique song. I have attended Christmas services where not even a single such song is sung but
ஆத்துமா ஒன்றும் ரட்சிக்காமல் was sung. I came out of the service with tears. There were many others who were sharing aloud why Xmas songs are
not sung. O we are losing out on perspective and focus. That's why I have compiled all the popular Xmas songs.

Lastly, I thank and praise the Lord who was with me, guiding me as to which songs I have left out, which must be included, in this compilation. Oh it was
such a wonderful experience, the songs bubbling from my heart, the spirit of worship & praise springing out like a fountain. I was engulfed and
enveloped in a shield of praise and thanksgiving, as I was typing these songs. Many a times I was in tears, pondering of His
wonderful love. I kept on praying while I was typing that whoever goes through this song book, will experience the same spirit of
worship, praise, thanksgiving and anointing.

How I compiled these songs; all Tamil songs, excepting a few, I myself have typed out in my PC. ( in Tamil phonetic font); I have
downloaded some English hymns and few other songs, from the Internet. Almost all choruses and songs, I have typed out. Printed
in my small printer, proofed and compiled; finally photocopied.

Our loving heavenly Father, I submit this song book at your feet.
Please accept this small effort of mine
Lord Jesus , You have blessed the five loaves of bread and two fish to feed
thousands You are the same, yesterday today and forever more.
Likewise, bless this book. Through this book, let the blessings flow and
Reach thousands. Let there be an explosion of praise and worship, Lord I give you all the glory, In Jesus name.
